Each month, a trusted author, librarian, or book professional will choose a book that has been challenged and/or banned somewhere in the United States. In the box will be information explaining what the fuss is all about and information to help you engage in necessary discourse about the book, book-banning, AND easy-to-act materials to help your voice be heard.
AFTER ONE YEAR: We hope that you will continue to read and advocate for books that are frequently banned and challenged.
Docere means "teacher" in latin and what better name for this cool gal who is here to share the information you may need to engage in discourse with your community. Docere symbolizes the many interns from local colleges, booksellers, and the thousands of hours of research done, bringing you the most up-to-date information on banned books, so you don't have to look any further! Docere is our collective spokesperson!
WORDS IN ACTION could not be made possible without the help of our curating authors, librarians, and book professionals. Each box's curator is personally investing in the work against book banning in the United States and around the world! We will share the curating authors when available, but often it will be a surprise! Some authors who have curated our boxes are Julia Quinn, Nita Prose, and Jodi Picoult!
